Be sure you actually have an index file.

You will see the test page if no index file is present.

(You must have a file called index.html, index.php, etc)

Of COURSE I have an index file. (index.php, as a matter of fact) Does this have to be in the root folder, or with the other files in httpdocs? and, why the heck do we have to put crap in the httpdocs folder?

pythonpoole

Make sure yall your files are in the httpdocs folder, don't ask, its just that way.

Also make sure that either

1) You include index.php in the url example domain.com/index.php (plesk does not default to index.php)

2) You create an htaccess file telling plesk to default to index.php so you can simply use domain.com

The default configuration DOES include index.php

Be sure you have cleared your browser cache if you are still seeing the old index file.  (If you attempted to view your site before uploading any files)

Be sure you have named the file "index.php" not "Index.php".  This system is case sensitive.

All files must be inside of the "httpdocs" directory.

ishbog,
You must actually point your domain to our IP address or our nameservers.  You currently have your domain forwarded to your FreePgs URL.  Your FreePgs URL does not exist.  You must either modify the nameservers for your domain name or modify the DNS records.

That is very strange, because for me if I have an index.php page in folder I need to actually write in the "index.php" in the url address otherwise it just defaults to index.html or if index.html doesn't exist it gives a not found or forbidden error (can't remember which)

admin

I have added "index.php" to the global DirectoryIndex configuration directive.

However, if an index.html file exists, it will load.

Hmm I just tried again and I still have the same problem.. without an .htaccess file specifically telling it to load index.php, its just ignored and a forbidden error is given (if there is no index.html).

admin

This should work after the next httpd restart.

(The changes were made but no restart was performed at the time)

ugh. does the server somehow recognice the domain typed it? because when i just visit http://216.69.169.20/, it comes with default stuff. let me get this straight (i still havnt gone to godaddy to change where it points, no) -- i just put 216.69.169.20 as the url to forward to, and it should work? then shouldnt just going to the IP address work?

admin

Yes, all the sites will resolve to this same IP.

When your domain points here, and you type your domain into the browser, your site will be displayed.

Thats assuming the plesk server is setup with your domain (i think).. If your domain isn't registered with freepgs I think it will take you to the page you showed us in your post.

ishbog

my domain wasnt created w/freepgs. i used godaddy. it will still work?

pythonpoole

It doesn't matter where you registered your domain, Just so long as you register it with freepgs... so that freepgs can direct your domain to your account, otherwise your domain name won't know where to go and will default to the plesk page.
