Support Requests / * Plesk and Migration FAQ's *
January 06, 2008, 02:28:38 AM
Q. How do I migrate my account?

Answer:
Log into the Freepgs Account Options (http://system.freepgs.com/options.php) and click the "Please click here to migrate to the Plesk system" link and be sure your email is up-to-date in the form and your account before submitting.

Q. I never received the Plesk email, what did it say?

Answer:
QuoteAn account has been created for you on the Plesk system.

To manage your account, please login via https://plesk.lvcs.net:8443/

You will need to click "Add New Domain" to setup the FTP account and domain name.

Each domain will be setup with its own FTP account. If you wish to have multiple domains pointing to the same content, you can add them as aliases to a single domain.

Please upload your files using "plesk.lvcs.net" as the FTP Server Name. Be sure to upload your files into the "httpdocs" directory.

Once your domains have been created, you will need to update the nameservers at your domain registrar.

The new nameservers are:
PLSK1.LVCS.NET
PLSK2.LVCS.NET

If you are pointing your domain to our IP address (via DNS records), you will need to update the DNS record to point to 68.178.194.153

If you are using a domain name that ends with "freepgs.com", that domain will not point to the Plesk server automatically. To have these domains pointed, please create a ticket via the "Help Desk" link, and we will make the necessary DNS changes. You can also add the domain as username.plesk.freepgs.com if you wish to have a domain that will work immediately.

If you have your own domain and are pointed to our nameservers, you will now have the ability to add/remove your own email accounts in Plesk. If you are using a third party email server solution, you will have the ability to modify DNS records via the Plesk panel as well.

Q. How do I create my freepgs domain on the Plesk server work?

Answer:
1. Login to Plesk via https://plesk.lvcs.net:8443/ with your username and password.
2. Click the "Create a Domain" link near the bottom of the screen in the Tools module.
3. For the domain name, uncheck www and type in the text box yourusername.freepgs.com (substituting yourusername for yours)*
4. Click the Finish button
5. Click the "Home" link on the left navigation menu.
6. Your domain should now be shown in the main window. Click your domain name.
7. Click the Setup icon and choose Physical Hosting
8. Enter your FTP details, etc... and hit Ok

Also, you should have received an email with some guidance of the Plesk system:
QuoteAn account has been created for you on the Plesk system.

To manage your account, please login via https://plesk.lvcs.net:8443/

You will need to click "Add New Domain" to setup the FTP account and domain name.

Q. How do I point my current FreePgs URL to my files on the Plesk server?

Answer:
You may submit a ticket via the Help Desk link in the Plesk system.

Q. How do I set space/bandwidth limit per domain?

Answer:
On the sidebar, click "Home", then click the domain. Find the "Limits" button, and it will bring up a form to limit bandwidth/space/subdomains/and so on.
If you have already hit your limit on resources, you must decrease them from one domain to increase them on another domain.

Q. My site on the Plesk server does not load. Why?

Answer:
Please use this forum topic to report Plesk downtime: http://forum.freepgs.com/index.php?topic=1032.0

Be sure to include as much information as possible such as:
  Date/Time (With offset or timezone)
  How long the downtime occured

Quote from: Adam on January 05, 2008, 04:25:37 PM
i cant load my site cant get to the plesk page at all whats upp here

We are currently working on the issue. The downtime is due to some of the migrated FreePgs user's who are using fsockopen on the Plesk server. fsockopen will be disabled to prevent future down times due to this issue.

The migration form is not yet available. Please check back later today.

Users need to move their MySQL databases unless they are on the MySQL5 server, but they may want to export these databases eventually to Plesk.

Once it is imported to Plesk, you will have regular access to your database.

Unfortunately, I am uncertain if the one time payment option for upgrades will be available. But 300MB-2GB of space (depending on your account) should be ample space for websites.

New registrations will most likely be monthly payments to deter those users who wish to abuse the system as well as bring in revenue to maintain the server.

I cannot give a certain time frame of how long sites will be sustainable, but we will continue to provide service for as long as possible.

Best Regards,

Sites can be moved over to the Plesk server for no charge. If your account is already on the Plesk server, your site will not be affected. (Your site is on the Plesk server if you currently login via https://plesk.lvcs.net:8443/)

Data must be moved manually.1
No data will be available after 31 March 2008.

There will be no monthly fees when migrating your account to the Plesk system.

Migrations will not be accepted until 2 January 2008 via a special form.

Accounts will be given the same amount of disk space on the Plesk system as they currently have on the FreePgs system.

1 - Yes, you will be able to FTP/upload your files and MySQL DB to the Plesk server.

The FreePgs system will be shutdown after March 31, 2008. The Plesk server however will remain since that is where users will be migrated too.

The functionality of the Plesk system will be similar to the FreePgs system with the exception of a few things.

We will most likely move the current forum to the new system.
