My mail is on the Plesk server. Since you restarted the Plesk server, I'm able to receive popmail from webmail.<mydomain>.

However, I thought I'd try mail.<mydomain> as well. Sure enough, it works also. So, I guess I'll keep it as mail.<mydomain>.

Thanks,
Rick

Well, the subject says it all. For the last two days or so, I have been unable to use my email client to receive mail from webmail.pcmdsolutions.com. I CAN get my mail through the web by going to webmail.pcmdsolutions.com. Trying to get it through popmail however is suddenly not working. When I try to get it with my email client I get the following error:

Could not connect to host webmail.pcmdsolutions.com

Nothing has changed in the setup of the account in my email client. The username & password are correct. The port number is still 110.

Anyone have any ideas??

Something interesting that I noticed.  I was unable to access my website earlier today.  I pinged freepgs.com and did not recieve any replies.  Later on I pinged it again and received replies from 127.0.0.1 aka localhost.  I checked my hosts file and its unaltered.  Any ideas of why this is happening?
Interesting. When I do a "dig freepgs.com", I get the following:

Not long after posting the above message, I found that the change had finally propagated to my ISP's DNS servers.

So, everything is now working as it should.

OK...

I changed my domain to point to the freepgs.com nameservers (NS1.LVCS.NET, NS2.LVCS.NET & NS01.BACKUPDNS.COM). If I do a whois on my domain, it shows the proper nameservers. I contacted the admin about the change and received a message back saying that, "The domain has been added back to our nameservers."

Sure enough, if I run the following command, "dig @ns1.lvcs.net pcmdsolutions.com" I can see that everything appears as it should. However, if I do the following, "dig pcmdsolutions.com" I get the following:
;; QUESTION SECTION:
;pcmdsolutions.com.             IN      A

;; ANSWER SECTION:
pcmdsolutions.com.      3602    IN      A       216.69.169.20

;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
pcmdsolutions.com.      1046    IN      NS      ns.pcmdsolutions.com.

;; ADDITIONAL SECTION:
ns.pcmdsolutions.com.   1046    IN      A       216.69.169.20

Obviously, this dig is getting the info from my ISP's DNS server. Pointing my browser to my domain shows me the site which is on Plesk.

My question is, do I need to do anything else? Or, is it simply a matter of waiting for the nameserver change to propagate to my ISP's DNS server?

Support Requests / Plesk Popmail Server Down?
November 01, 2005, 12:19:23 PM
Yesterday (10/31), I was able to get my email working on the Plesk server. I was able to get my mail through webmail (accessing webmail.mydomain) as well as through popmail.

Today, I am still able to access webmail but, suddenly, I'm unable to get it through popmail. When I try to get it through my email client, I get the following message:

     Error while Fetching Mail.
Could not connect to webmail.pcmdsolutions.com: Connection refused.

Does this mean the popmail server is down?
