Support Requests / Re: Not worth the aggravation
April 18, 2014, 06:29:52 AM
Users who don't upgrade their script after reminders had been sent are not serious about their site or they just don't care. This show their site are either not important to them or they had an attitude problem. They should be using facebook instead of making website. Should consider suspend them for the first and second time and let them explains why their script is not updated and on the 3rd time they should be kick  out. I think this have been going on for ages something need to be done otherwise these people just don't paid attention to our problem.

Support Requests / Re: Service Shutting Down

This is sad I just move another site here a week ago and now the bad news.

Is there a better way genuine users be remain with this service. Bad guys and dormant users should be removed.
I believe many genuine users are willing to paid more. Maybe the number of hosted domain/webspace/bandwith should be adjusted and user who need more can buy another one.

This is the best hosting service I had experienced and hope to see it survive.

I voted "Yes, and I have renewed"
I have 2 account with freepgs. Eventhough I am awared that freepgs allow users to combine 2 or more accounts into a single one and pay US$3. I have choose to pay for the 2 accounts separately for US$6 a years. This is my apprecation and support for freepgs. If freepgs have to end In the future I will surely miss freepgs. There is no one like freepgs.

I got two of this spam mail too.
I open it but never follow the link and come right here to check out the forum because I don't believe this was send by Ed.
It is good to know that it has been taken care of by Admin but how did that sucker send it from here is he one of freepgs's moderator? I mean is this an inside job?

.htaccess has no problem whatsoever with search engines if you implement it properly.
The problem is not .htaccess.
The problem is search engine don't like spam. This is about search engine spam not email spam.
Search engine spammer has use technique similar to this mathod and result in search engine becoming sensitive to duplicate site and duplicate content.
Sure all freepgs site with domain are duplicated once but doing it twice is not a great ideas. As most users of freepgas build community site and don't depends much on search engine so it not a big issue.
Professional hosting normally don't provided you a URL for the same reason.

THanks for the reply. I'll try the .htaccess method after the domain is linked to my freepgs acct.
If this doesn't work out for me, i can just buy another plan, i suppose.
If you can afford a second plan it will be better to buy another plan as it cost you $3 only if you need a little more space. The .htaccess is the poor man's method it has problem with some search engine.
The reason is some search engine may see two URl with the same content when you use .htaccess to redirect. The first URL  is the www.your1stdomain.com/directory_of_2nd_ domain/ the other is the www.your2nddomain.com. Some of the search engine will think one of this URL as copycat site and it don't get listed well or not listed at all on their search result.
