Support Requests / Re: Annual Fee POLL - Please vote.

Having been with the service for nearly a decade now, when it was free, even before the fire, I know that it's never going to get any cheaper. As little as I use it now (since I'm not all that fond of Plesk), $10/yr starts to get towards the end of what I'd like to pay. If I was using the site a lot, then it would be an incredible bargain. But for two or three static domain pages, it begins to be a luxury. I would grudgingly go along with $10, since I'm too lazy to move the domains, but if it goes up again, I'd have to seriously reconsider it.

Shouldn't you click on the domain name at the bottom of the second screen "cdhs.freepgs.com"?

So I don't need the username.freepgs.com at all. And if I have, say, three domain names, I enter each of them via the Plesk control panel (not as subdomains). Then point the nameservers for all three domains.

Support Requests / Plesk domains

I'm a little confused...

Ben's FAQ said to create a domain on Plesk with username.freepgs.com. Easy enough. If I have a domain name, I change the nameservers to point to Plesk, then submit a help ticket to get it added onto my site. So in this case, Mydomain.com would point to username.freepgs.com, yes?

So if I have other sites I wish to add as separate domains, are they set up as subdomains off this main site? Or do I create a separate domain in Plesk for each one?

Thanks Ben; I just figured it out.

Support Requests / Mail question (NOT Plesk!)
January 08, 2008, 05:27:40 PM
I'm using the migration to Plesk to move some domains around between the Plesk server and another paid host I have. One domain I've had on Freepgs is being moved to the other host. I've changed the nameservers, etc. But it seems the web-based email is no longer functioning. So I guess the question is: do the nameservers need to be set to LVCS in order for the email to work? If not, any ideas on why the email is no longer functioning?

If you were using the mysql5 server for your database, it's been damaged, and possibly will not have data restored. See the message on the freepgs login screen.

I'd rather have it so established members can create additional accounts for themselves if needed.

This already exists; I haven't entered my password/username in ages. I think when you do it, you select how long you want it to last. Pick "forever" and make sure you have cookies enabled.

Yeah, I had backups of some of my data, but basically it's your job to keep current backups of your stuff. A lot of users lost everything, and it was down for about two months as I recall, while they rebuilt the system.

Ah, okay. And burnt down?!
About... what's it been now, two years ago? The building housing the server caught fire. All the hardware (and all the freepgs user data) was destroyed. It was a mess, but FP has come back better than ever.

I think Admin knows how to add a button. Anyway, if you change your theme from the default one to 'Freepgs Lite', you'll see the Freepgs menu, which has been there for ages.

Have you tried asking this at the phpnuke site?

Nope, no idea.

It might help if you gave us a little more information to go on.
