Why do you want to make a script on the server to do backups?

The best way is to make a script (a batch file on Windows, or an AppleScript on a Mac) on your own computer to copy all files from the server using FTP. Also, there are probably applications to do the same thing.

Not on the main server (phpinfo). I don't know about Plesk.

popen and pclose are often disabled on servers, so most PHP solutions (WordPress, Simple Machines Forum and so on...) should not be using them.

The best way to go nowadays in coding HTML is using XHTML.

It is important to be careful when using XHTML. This document (Sending XHTML as text/html Considered Harmful) explains the problems it can cause.

One of the major problems blocking the use of real XHTML is that Internet Explorer still doesn't support it and IE 7 won't either. To be processed as XHTML, a page must be sent with the application/xhtml+xml MIME type and IE doesn't accept that.

Someone seems to have deleted index.html and index.php files for accounts beginning with a-r, as far as I can tell.

My account (webzone) was also affected, so it was not limited to these letters. However, I've seen many accounts starting with "s" that weren't affected. That's weird.

People like this make me question what little faith I had left in humanity.

There will always be people to destroy other's work. That's sad, but unfortunately true.

Interesting: the hacked accounts here were just another target set by a group of a "defacement team". A Google search reveals tons of affected websites. A page in Google's cache even provides their email addresses.

Re-upload your index.php or index.htm file from your last backup.

Forums were not the only sites affected. My two accounts got hit: one had almost nothing on it and the other ran WordPress (blog).

But I would really like to see something done about this.

This is why all scripting languages (except PHP) are now disabled for everyone.

Browsers are not obliged to support it anymore. Some may still accept it if they want to.

W3Schools has a list of HTML tags and shows which ones are deprecated.

Today Perl is deactivated and instead of executing the scripts I see their source on the screen!

Perl was deactivated a few days ago.

Plesk is down, so they had to move the forum back to the main FreePgs server. You probably posted after the last backup, so the post was lost. I'm not sure about that, though.
