Support Requests / Subdomains and FTP
September 28, 2006, 06:23:59 PM
In the "Hosting plans" topic Admin said the FreePgs system provides 2 subdomains on all accounts. I was wondering how they would be accessed by FTP. Would there be two folders for the two subdomains?

Last time I checked FreePgs was using PHP Version 5.0.4

You can check for yourself by putting the following code into a file (phpinfo.php) and uploading it to your web space.

<?php

phpinfo
();

?>

Support Requests / SQLite question
August 31, 2006, 11:29:34 PM
In another topic in the General Discussion category I said I'd been looking for applications that use SQLite -- because of recent MySQL connection problems. When I looked at the output from "phpinfo.php" it showed that the Configure Command includes '--without-sqlite'. Is there a reason for that? Is it a security risk?

Support Requests / Re: Database connection problem

The "cannot connect to database" problem happened again today, and forum.freepgs.com wasn't available either. The site I wanted to access wasn't one of the domains on the plesk server.

I wonder if this is the topic admin was referring to:

Support Requests / php email problems
July 01, 2006, 03:08:53 PM
Yesterday, I posted a new topic about email problems with my phpBB forum in "General Discussion". Several other users replied that they were having similar email problems. I realize now I should have posted it in "Support Requests".

http://forum.freepgs.com/index.php?topic=1252

I have a pphlogger account and it appears the email notifications after XX hits are not being sent either.

I have been testing a FormMail script on my PC using the WAMP5 server:

http://www.wampserver.com/en/

http://www.stadtaus.com/en/php_scripts/formmail_script/

I need to set up the referring server details to use it on FreePgs:

$referring_server = 'www.example.com, example.com, 192.0.34.166';

For a FreePgs account is the IP address 64.193.110.130 or 64.193.110.132 ?

The problem you've been having is one I haven't seen mentioned anywhere before. I use pphlogger for both my FreePgs site and my BlogSpot site. During the FreePgs shutdown due to the fire I used another pphlogger service and it worked fine. It's probably not relevant to the the problem you've been having, but inside the pphlogger.js file there are 3 comment lines concerning framesets:

// If you're using a frameset and are not getting correct
// referrers, please uncomment the following line:
// pp_frames = true;

In addition to pphlogger I use StatCounter. Detailed reports are limited to the last 100 pageviews, but it does offer the option to receive weekly or monthly visitor stats by email. There's also an option to keep it invisible. You can find a comparison of StatCounter and two other free trackers here:

The pphlogger code hasn't been updated since Version 2.2.5 (2003/10/31), so it reports Firefox as Mozilla and Safari as Netscape 6 -- because the new browser names didn't exist in 2003. Here's how to decode the browser reporting:

Mozilla 1.7 = Firefox 1.0x
Mozilla 1.8 = Firefox 1.5
Netscape 6.0; MacOSX  = Safari
