Ok now the storage bar updated indicating i do have <0.1mb of files which is unfotunrately correct:(

So if it wasn't a hacking  what was it.

I went on my website this morning no problem, about 45 min later i noticed an image i hosted from my site didn't load so I checked my site to see if freepgs was down and then i saw that www.scorpionsoftware.org only shows a directory with 2 files!!! :O everything gone

for me this is another fire! even worse since I've worked even harder after the fire to have a really good site.. and you guessed it I never took the trouble to backup much.

I'm very sorry to hear of this loss and if there are any graphic designing needs that I can help you with or PHP advice (eh.. you might wanna ask webzone about PHP stuff) I'd be glad to help you out. However, knowing that we've had a fire and seeing the superfluous backup warnings strollled throughout teh site I cannot have a lot of sympathy for you for not backing up your site.

My suggestion is to build yoursite AT HOME and save to your hard disk first, then upload with FTP to test files etc. Dreamweaver makes this task extremely easy, but I've done this with filezilla too.

Hi i tried to buy a website at FreePgs through paypal but it only accepted VISA and Master Card (Im in Australia). I've only got a Commonwealth Bank Card though. What should i do  Huh

if your commonwealth Bank card has a "Visa" or "Mastercard" logo then go ahead and do it.

IF not, I suggest getting a PayPal account or giving up, not much we can do I don't think.

I am trying to install CGIProxy and PHProxy onto my account, however I am recieving a bunch of errors or it just doesnt work. Can anyone shed some light on my situation? All permissions are set correctly, and the files work on my other server. CGIProxy has the correct perl route (based on the FAQ thread).

http://www.freepgs.com/vineman/phproxy
http://www.freepgs.com/vineman/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi

I dunno what your problem is but you need to remove that first link ASAP, I clicked that and immediately firefox started opening in a million windows and I had to open the task manager and quit it.

Come aboard, it's not exactly a major risk anyway, worst case scenario you waste $30, and if I'm not mistaken if you quite before 30 days you can get that back.

don't worry, if your website causes any system problems, you'll hear about it, it's one of those "hot topics" around here.

Also PHP include can't include images. You need HTML to display an image:

Code:
<image source="http://directoryofimage.gif">
A couple things I feel I should point out here -
First, that's not how you do an image.  The proper code is this:
Code:
<img src="directoryofimage.gif">

Second, the URL http://directoryofimage.gif would tell the browser to try and load the WEBSITE directoryofimage.gif into the spot for the image, treating the .gif part as it would .com, .net, .org and the like. (i.e http://www.directoryofimage.gif/ )  You ONLY put http:// at the front of the URL when you are including the domain, like this:
Code:
<img src="http://www.example.com/directoryofimage.gif">
Otherwise, it will make things crash and burn.

Actually for your information "image source" is the original code for including images and works perfectly fine. "img src" is an abbreviation and also works.

And I think that you're being a little annoying. I'm not a total complete retard, NO offence but do you honestly hear what you're telling me because I'm extremely offended.

directoryofimage - That is wherever teh image is, I dunno where this guy has his image, but whatever the full directory path is he should put it there.

The directory: "freepgs.com/username/poo.gif"

So he'd stick that in place of "directoryofimage". Sorry I didn't include the website I don't know what his domain name is so I just stuck a word in there. I know that you probably think that I was saying just to stick a directory in there and not care about the domain name, That would be wrong. However if you knock off the http you can just use a directory (called a relative path).

So I actually do understand what you were talking about, my message was not incorrect but not clear enough (upon looking back I realise).

EDIT: I truly thought "image source" was valid but I must have been thinking of "Background source". However I distinctly remember using it and it working, I can only guess that my browser was smart enough (After all firefox will automatically convert "<image>" to "<img>".

Either way it is important to know what the abreviations are for. But I swear on a stack of bibles I've used "<image source" before.

while($iii>$size){
$echo = $container[$iii];
echo("$echo\n");
$iii++;
}

as long as $iii is greater than $size to begin with, it'll keep going and going and going

but . . . .$iii was smaller than $size, it always is because $iii is Zero and size is never less than 1. ? ? ? ?

Although you did find the error, it should say $iii<$size. Thanks... maybe I can fix it.
82  FreePgs Related / Support Requests / Infinite loop and ERRORS! I just can't get t right on: February 23, 2006, 12:31:19 AM
I just do not know where my error is occuring or why teh script doesn't work but I thought maybe somone who's had sleep in teh past 16 hours might be able to spot it out.

There's a form, you input words. You can seperate them with commas and then count the number of unique words (Or spaces I could have done spaces) or you can see how many premutations (letter combos) each one has. Letter combos worked fine but unique word counting failed miserably.

Code:
<?php

if(isset($_POST['action'])){

if(
$_POST['action'] == "preM"){

 if(isset(
$_POST['msg'])){

$string $_POST['msg'];

$characters strlen($string);

$char$characters-1;

 while(
$char>0)
 {

$characters $characters*($char);

//echo("$char\n");
 //echo("........".$characters."\n");

$char = ($char-1) ;

 }
 echo(
"There are $characters Different Combinations of the letters in  '$msg' ");
 echo(
"<br>Premutations: $characters ");

$characters1 $characters/6;
 echo(
"<br>3 letter combos: $characters1 ");
 }
}elseif(
$_POST['action'] =="Grade"){

      if(!empty(
$_POST['msg'])){

$message $_POST['msg'];

$array explode(",",$message);

$container = array("test");

$ii 0;

$loops count($array);
         while(
$ii<$loops){

$word $array[$ii];
         if(!
preg_match("/$word/i","$container")){

$container[$ii] = $word;

$ii++;
          }
         }
        }
       }

}
if(isset(
$container)){
$iii 0;
$size count($container);
while(
$iii>$size){
$echo $container[$iii];
echo(
"$echo\n");
$iii++;
}
}
//echo($size);
?>

<form action="<?echo($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']);?>" method='post'>

Yes, you can have subdomains of the same domain name that point to different accounts.

When adding, do not check the "www" box and enter the domain as you would like it to resolve for that account.

Thank you,
FreePgs.com Admin

ooh how cool, can I have a sub-domain that goes to a directory in my site? (I think that's a topic we've had before. . . )
84  FreePgs Related / Support Requests / Re: Subdomain a domain name with a different freepgs account on: February 20, 2006, 11:16:02 PM
Yeah, but it may be easier just to get a big account and do it all on teh same account. I once had a really big discussion about this and .htaccess and stuff, maybe if you look it up You'll find an answer. I'm pressed for time but I'll post a link if I can.

well those people are dumb.

ahem, that's what i used to do Tongue

Seriously, I was using mod_rewrite to transfer all requests to a php script in a hidden folder that built the requested page on the fly. So, my site did not contain any index.*. I'm now using WordPress instead, but it works with a very similar principle. The only difference is that, instead of naming the script weirdly like I do, they just called it "index.php".

if there are no .html/.rhtml/.shtml/.php/.anything files then they're not doing anything but hosting images

What if they configured PHP to execute every file and used, let's say, ".scpt" as an extension? It would be a rare case, but still. It is quite hard to plan what people would do.

That's what I meant. If ther eare no .anything files and only .png/gif/jpg/swf etc. etc.  then they'r enot doing anything. ANd it'd be pointless for them to have htaccss treat an image extention as php 1. because it serves no purpose *, 2. because then tey couldn't use that image type anymore and 3. because they'd only be able to use notpad to edit it.

* I mean this loosely, I actually have found a wonderful use for PHP treating .png (or gif or jpeg) files as PHP content. Cheesy Many forums and otehr online things will not let you use the image link for a .php file, so you can have htaccess in a certain folder read .pngs as PHP and tehn make an image creation script that does your PHP stuff (Liek send you an Email when it's viewd ot display the user's browser)

Well... this is getting off my main point.

Only checking for index.* could possibly leave some out. Checking for index.* or .htaccess would probably catch them all, although it's possible that someone has a file .htaccess that does nothing, so they would slip through, but that is likely to be rare.

Anyway, back to the point... What I'd like to see is a way to view only the members pages that actually have content. Somehow weeding out the links to sites that have no meaningful content.

Andrew

well one thing's for sure, it's NOT impossible to search foe all teh site sthat have an index page and really, who cares about the other people? I doubt 90% of teh people don't have index pages and if tehy don't then boohoo, you won't get to see their site, I don't think we shoudl sit and worry about .htaccess and people without indexes etc. But sometimes I like to look at site even if tehy don't have content so I can see if tehy have illegal files etc. Because when it comes to bandwidth hogs I'm a major narc.

Code:
include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/file.php');

translates, for me, to

Code:
include('/fpgs/fpgshttpd/webzone/file.php');

An array must be placed outside the " and added to the rest of the string using a concatenation operator (.)

oh I see, I guess that's better for include and stuff. But Occasionaly I echo a lot of text at a time and arrays realy annoy me.

It would be cool if the user list pages ( http://services.freepgs.com/list.php ) only showed the accounts that actually had content on them. You could check the subdirectories to see if index.* exists. I was trying to cruise through some of the members pages to see what other people are doing here, but I found tons of accounts with nothing on them, or just some images uploaded.

Some people use .htaccess to load different files and do not use index.*. It would not be an accurate way to check for activity.

well those people are dumb. But lets be realistic, if there are no .html/.rhtml/.shtml/.php/.anything files then they're not doing anything but hosting images. I think it'd be fine if they had an annual or monthly charge, but a low one time fee to waste bandwidth just doesn't seem fair to the rest of us.

But in case you never know if you're not going to use freepgs forever or is we have a problem and change the folder name, I reccoment making a php file in teh root directory that has some very common variable declarations and including it in all fils. Amung these I would include a simple variable with that value in it so that you cna just change that one variable on that one page if you move sites and don't wanna change every single include() in your site.

Or you could simply use $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]

oh cool never heard of it. but when you use things like echo() or include() you can't use arrays.

like

include("$_SERVER[\"DOCUMENT_ROOT\"]");

include("$_SERVER[\"DOCUMENT_ROOT\"]");

include("$_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']");

all return errors.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /fpgs/fpgshttpd/sixthcrusifix/testpage.php on line 1

so you'd have to set a veriable (not array) to $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] anyway.

okay, well i just created a few new directories for my layouts(linkware)and im trying to link to the images and pages from my root directory into the pages in my new directories.

For example:
one directory is "divs" and the page im trying to create inside of it is called "divlayers.php". Im trying to make it have the same layout as the pages in my root directory have. I use the php include code to include the header and footer(layout codes)codes into the pages but i can't figure out how to link to images and pages in other directories.

like for images ive tried this:
(Example)
("/image.gif")
and
("root/image..gif")
and
("root/divs/image.gif")

and for links:
(Example)
<?php include('root/header.php'); ?>(for the header and footer)
or
<?php include('/header.php'); ?>
or
<a href="root/divs/divlayers.php">۞ Div - Layers</a><br>
or
<a href="/divs/divlayers.php">۞ Div - Layers</a><br>

it never works.....please tell me what im doing wrong and what i can do to fix it.

Hi there.

When you sign into your ftp account, it looks like it is the root ( / ) but actually, it is your own subdirectory (in your case, /fpgs/fpgshttpd/paris/ )  When using PHP, it isn't restricted to just your subdirectory, so, when you say include ("/header.php"); what you really meant to say was include("/fpgs/fpgshttpd/paris/header.php");  Alternatively, you could use the relative ( .. ) to go up a directory.  include ("../header.php");

On the web, since you are using the freepgs.com/paris/ url (right, or do you have a domain?) if you use /, your browser will be looking for a file from the freepgs.com/ directory instead of freepgs.com/paris/  When you use <a href="/divs/divlayers.php"> you are telling your browser freepgs.com/divs/divlayers.php, which is wrong.   Use <a href="/paris/divs/divlayers.php"> instead.

Hope this helps.

Andrew

or  <a href="./divs/divlayers.php"> Tongue

Also, before teh file using the relative paths to include didn't work, neitehr did using the http://, it's best just to get into the habit of using /fpgs/fpgshttpd/username/

But in case you never know if you're not going to use freepgs forever or is we have a problem and change the folder name, I reccoment making a php file in teh root directory that has some very common variable declarations and including it in all fils.
