Support Requests / Email and Domain names, HOW?
November 29, 2005, 08:22:10 PM
I have crystalchasm.net and it works great. bUt I want people to be able to email me at Admin@crystalchasm.net.

Unfortunately the people I bought the domain from don't offer any service.  I got an account at superhost.com and aparently I can point my name servers towards it and have a catchall email account there. But the webhosting sucks, I wanna keep freepgs. I guess I can't host with freepgs and get email through superhost so what am I to do?

1. Sessions are funny. If you do them through cookiesit depends on how long people keep cookies and when you set them to expire, if it's a server held session I honestly think they have the possibility to last for quite a while. In fact I logged into my favorite PHP forum once a few months ago and I've never had to log back in manually since.

2. Um. . . it should always have @ I've never seen it not have @. But I don't know WHY it has @.

3. Sorry I know nothing of timestamps.

I have added "rhtml" to the list of editable file types in the "Online File Manager"

You should also be able to modify files via the "Online FTP File Manager"

Thank you,

Coolness. thanks.

Yes, it appears you will have to contact them to make these changes.

Thank you,
FreePgs.com Admin

Well Now we've solved that problem (ME and My Aunt, username: NebulaMystic) BUT

When you visit www.nebulamystic.com in AOL you get the right site, the data on freepgs but if you just use internet explorer you get the default page!? She DOES have access to the nameservers and stuff through hostway.com. Do you know why it world work in AOL and not in IE (Odd because AOL isn't even an independant browser it works off of IE) I'm not at my computer with firefox and opera so I can't see if it works there but the browser shouldn't matter! I'm confused.

If you wish to have ruby parse part of an HTML document, please use the .rhtml extension

Then use

<%

%>

tags around your ruby content.

#!/usr/bin/eruby should be used if parsing a file that contains ruby code (as well as other code such as HTML)
Alternatively, you can select "mod_ruby" from the Options panel (no shebang line is needed in this case)

Thank you,
FreePgs.com Admin

Okay, But when I use rhtml it won't let me edit the file. Am I going to have to make the file on my computer and then upload it? It might be hard to test and edit. . .

It also just shows up as a bunch of text. . . is it because I have it set to "Direct/CGI" ???

NVM I got it to work, that WAS the problem. The only crappy thing is I can't edit it online I'll have to use FTP so I can edit it from the computer and upload it.

Well also if you have an FTP Client like Coffe Cup FTP or Macromedia Dreamweaver (It's more than just FTP) Then you can just use ftp.freepgs.com with your own password and name.
