Support Requests / Re: Script can't write files.

Thanks for helping brainiac.

I figured it out. I had PHP in safe mode and it was stopping it from writing the new files i guess.

Support Requests / Script can't write files.
April 07, 2008, 04:44:20 AM
I am having a problems with scripts being able to write files. I really don't' know how to explain it so here is what I am trying to do. I have a script for installing/upgrade skins for my site. When I run the script, it upgrades the skin sets but it isn't writing the skin files it needs to write.

I have an old computer I setup as a server so I can use it to learn php better. Anyway, I have Apache and php 5.2.5 installed on it. I set it all up on it and it writes the files for the skins, so I am assuming that I don't have something setup right for my domain in my plesk control panel or I need to send in a ticked and request something to be turned on.

I would be grateful for any help/advice anyone could give me.

Thanks,
Ren

Support Requests / Plesk domain setup.
March 27, 2008, 02:00:31 AM
I migrated over from freepgs and just setup my domain. In my mail I got, it said that I could use username.plesk4.freepgs.com for a domain. I did that and it works fine. Here in the forum in the topic titled "* Plesk and Migration FAQ's *" it says to use yourusername.freepgs.com. Can I use either way?

My next question is, do I have to use my username? I didn't like using it at freepages because it has my full name in it, but by the time I realized that I could change it, I already had a few members on my site and I didn't want to confuse people by changing it. What I want to know is, can I substitute anything in for my username as long as long as it isn't already being used already?

Thanks,
Ren

Well any which way I took away the owner permissions and now I can't do anything with it.

I was installing some mods on my site and it told me to cmod some things to 0777. I thought this was wrong but that is what it said so I did it anyway. Well it took my owner premissions and I don't do anything with it at all. Now I get errors because of it. I tried to cmod it again and I also tried to delete it and I just get this message......

Request denied.
Verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation

That do I do to solve my problem.

I've done that before! I lo keep it backed up so all you have to do is restore it again.

Sorry to hear about your problem though. I hope they can restore it for you.

This seems to happen alot here. I will say it has gotten a little better since freepgs had the fire. I assume that is because they got some bugs workout of it, but I don't know. I know that it will be back up, but it sucks waiting on it. I have work to do on my site also. I know thqat there isn't anything anybody can do but wait. I was wondering why this happens though. I know that the mods here have no idea, but maybe an admin can answer it later. I figure it has to do with the or the servers connection to the internet, but if someone can answer it, I am really curious to why this is.

Thanks,
Ren
