Support Requests / Re: All My Files
August 22, 2006, 05:44:41 PM
If your password was changed without your knowledge, my guess would be that you were hacked. All your files were probably erased by this person... hopefully you have made a backup somewhere of your website and databases.

Make sure you choose a new password and tell noone what it is... sorry for your loss, hope I helped out a bit

Support Requests / Re: Joomla Installer Error

I definetly CHMOD'd it up okay... not exactly sure how I would change the paths though because that option is disabled in the Joomla administrator section.

Has anyone else with Joomla been able to change the path?

The file paths look ok... not really sure where the whole var/ thing is but it would appear that I cannot change the path at any rate?

I already established that I tried manually uploading and that also does not work

Support Requests / Joomla Installer Error
August 11, 2006, 06:36:30 PM
I have installed Joomla seemingly successfully and everything works except for the installers. I am unable to install any new components, modules, mambots, templates or anything else! This is very frustrating as I cannot even install it manually.

I have tried everything and no, there is not a zip inside a zip of what I am trying to install. I have installed the joomla system multiple times, everytime I get the same error in the installers! Here is a screenshot:

Thanks for your help!

Support Requests / Re: MySQL remote connection

Make sure you are changing all your settings correctly.
You may have the wrong host name of the server you are trying to connect to.

The name of the host when it is not "localhost" should be in the format "domain.com"

Hope this helps,

Where do you have your domain name registered? ( Meaning godaddy, namecheap, enom, etc)

Many domain registrars have the option for domain fowarding which can direct your website to a folder other than root folder. I would check with your account wherever you registered and see which options they have available first because that would be the easiest solution to your issue.

It seems to be loading for me... but I'm getting a ton of wierd symbols on the page... that could be font-related though

I wouldn't split up the files if I were you... unless it is REALLY giving you a problem.

I highly recommend FTP, especially with a good client like SmartFTP or FIleZilla. These will give you better status reports as to what is actually happening to your file as it is uploaded

I didn't think that freepgs accounts came with plesk? Maybe you had the administrator set you up an account on the old server if thats what you meant...

You can login here https://lvcs.net:8443/

What I do to access my account is enter my domain name eg "domain.com" for user and the nenter my password.

If this does not work for you than you do not have Plesk capabilities. You may be able to gain access to the system if you contact Ed the Administrator and ask him to configure your account for it.

Hope this post helped!

Support Requests / Re: Find number of downloads?
August 07, 2006, 10:42:59 PM
Yes it most certainly is!

You will however need to do a bit of work, meaning setting up a script to track clicks/downloads to a certain link. The easiest means of this is through PHP.

Here you will find 2 good scripts for tracking the amount of times a file has been downloaded:
http://www.zymic.com/show_downloads_sub.php?id=6
        - I know that the first 2/3 scripts listed have this feature enabled

Hope this helps!

Only the admin of the server AKA Ed can install this because you need what is called "root" access.
You have not gotten replies in the past probably because Ed missed it and nobody else can do anything about it  :P.

I am suggesting that you write up a personal message to username "admin" requesting this installation (assuming that it will not hurt any users on the server)

30 seconds exceeded probably means that your file upload is just stalling.. not doing anything worth while. Because of this the server may drop it completely.

Filezilla is very easy to navigate!

Look on the top bar of the program and you will see a couple of blank spots:
Address - enter the ftp address of the server
Username - Enter your FTP Username
Password - Enter your FTP Password
Port - Enter your port or leave blank (default is "21")

Here is how I have mine set up, you can connect to your page if you use freepgs by entering "freepgs.com" or "ftp.freepgs.com" in the address slot.

Hope this helps!

Support Requests / Re: Joomla! TROUBLES (mmkay?)

Did all of the steps and there is still a slight problem. The problem is in the poll module for me and it says:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /var/www/vhosts/hostingsrc.com/httpdocs/modules/mod_poll.php on line 1

This leads me to believe the error is on line one... however al lthat is on line one is "<?php" haha

If anyone can fix this thanks, if noone can figure it out, no big, I wont have a poll lol :o
