Support Requests / Problem with permissions
January 31, 2007, 09:45:59 PM
Hi,

I tried installing MediaWiki on my freepgs site. It didn't work, so I deleted the directory...

But ever since then, it seems the permissions for my whole site have become messed up. I can't access my site at all, error 403 (forbidden to access the page).

I tried going through ftp and chmodding, but this only brings up an error:

QuoteWarning: ftp_site() [function.ftp-site]: Prohibited file name: /.ftpquota in /home/admin/system.freepgs.com/ftp/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 319
An error has occured:
Unable to execute site command chmod 0777 /.ftpquota. Note that the CHMOD command is only available on Unix FTP servers, not on Windows FTP servers.

Go back or Go to the login page

Technical information for developers:

The error occured in file /home/admin/system.freepgs.com/ftp/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 322.

    * function ftp_chmod2 (/home/admin/system.freepgs.com/ftp/modules/chmod/chmod.inc.php on line 262)
    * function net2ftp_module_printBody (/home/admin/system.freepgs.com/ftp/main.inc.php on line 311)
    * function net2ftp (/home/admin/system.freepgs.com/ftp/index.php on line 53)

This is my freepgs site:

http://afarrpg.freepgs.com/

Is there any way I can fix this?

Hey... It's finally working! I tried what you said but that didn't work, it turns out I had to remove the ftp:// from the start of the address :) Hopefully this will work.

Sorry for being complicated.. But if I put a web address in the ftp server name it only keeps the first part (if I out http://blah blah it goes to http, if I put www.blah blah it goes to www, same with ftp://)...

I know I'm probably annoying you a bit...

I think the server name has to be the actual servername of the freepgs ftp server,
It says "If you do not know what the ftp server name or directory path is contact your admin".

Do you know what freepgs' server name and destination are?

Thanks! This is so useful. Oh and Frontpage's counters never work for me so I never use them anyway.

Edit: Ah... I am using 2000 I think by the way.
It asks for the server name and destination, I take it that ftp://ftp.freepgs.com would be the destination, what would the server name be?

Also is it possible to publish it to a sub-folder (like freepgs.com/mysite/subfolder/)

Support Requests / Frontpage & "Publish Site"
February 10, 2006, 07:41:07 PM
The sites I make are generally in Frontpage. Now generally with Freepgs I have to upload them 4 files at a time, but I have a lot of files I need to be uploaded... In Frontpage this can be overcome by pressing "Publish site" and it will do all the work for you. What I need to know is can I do this with Freepgs? It would be a great help if I could. Also if I can do this with freepgs, what are the details I need to put in the publish web box? (I really do have no knowledge of that sort of stuff.).

It's still not working for me... Ah well.

Quotewhy do you have google ads on your page???

It doesn't say anywhere that you can't put your own ads on your site. Or does it?  :-\

My website isn't working... at first the whole page didn't load (404 error) but now it is just certain images. I checked my account and all the files are there, but when I view my website they do not load and when I right click and say view image it comes up 404 error.

Site is http://www.freepgs.com/afarrpg/ptk
