Support Requests / Backing Up
April 04, 2006, 01:02:56 AM
If I use the backup function in the Plesk and download the file, will this file contain everything on my site, including files and databases?  i.e. if the server were to lose all its data (hope not, fingers crossed), will uploading that file via the backup function retun my site to the previous operating state?

Support Requests / My Website and Search Engines
March 11, 2006, 12:39:23 AM
Hi, I currently have my site on the Plesk (www.mackass.com) and I recently entered my site domain into a Google search, and I was amazed to find my site at the top. Well, no problems there, but on the actual search result, there's a link to all the pages within my website. Now, theoretically, I only have one website page, all the subpages are within one page i.e. index.php?view=about or index.php?view=contact etc. Now, does anyone know why those subpages are being bought up by Google in the "More Results" link? They're meant to be outputted in a dedicated frame which is for the site navigation, and when clicked via the Google search, all it shows is the content, no main layout as it is not being outputted via the site frame.

What I want to know is, is there anyway I can stop Search Engines from bringing up those pages? Instead, I would only like them to return my 'index.php' or 'index.php?show=' page, no other page or subpage. Is there a script I can implement to stop the robots or crawlers doing this? By the way, I've not registered my website with Google, it just happened to be on there.

Sorry if it's hard to grasp, I don't really know how to explain it properly myself, but if you type my domain into Google, you'll understand. :)

Ah, it works now, thanks for the help admin, brainiac744 and webzone. :)

By the way, does anyone happen to know what .htaccess initially contained? I remember it had two short lines of code before, but when I viewed the file just now, it was empty.

Ah, hopefully, Freepgs can be kind enough to enable it if it's not too much of a problem.  ;D

Could this be down to the server change? Perhaps register_globals was turned on on the old server, and now turned off on the new server?
#7
Yeah, the variables in the URL don't seem to send from page to page.

How would I turn it on?

The paths are correct as they have been working on the Plesk since my account was restored a couple of months back. What I'm trying to say is, the Mackass site has been working for the past couple of months on the Plesk with no problems, and overnight, it literally decided to stop functioning properly and that I can't locate the problem, nor why the change occured. I made no changes to the coding of the pages, which is why I'm left clueless.  ???

Well, it's basically the navigation around the site that's decided to act up.

www.freepgs.com/futurefash // That's how the hyperlinks on the sidebar are supossed to function

www.mackass.com // All of a sudden, all links have failed to work. Was working for the past 6 months with no problems.

They're both my websites by the way.

This is because my PHP scripting, which has been working fine for the past 6 months or so, has suddenly stopped working properly as of yesterday. I've not made any changes to the scripting, and I haven't done so in the past couple of months, which is why I'm trying to find out why it's stopped working.

You'll probably say 'change or fix the script', but the problem is, I can't locate the problem and I cannot fix it. I've tried uploading backups from several months ago, but even they aren't functioning.

I used to be on the Freepgs.com server before the unfortunate accident, now I'm on the Plesk, and I have my nameservers pointed at Plesk1/Plesk2.

Anyone have any ideas?

Will any sites encounter any problems? My site, which was fine earlier today, now fails to load the content properly. Is this a temporary issue?

Ah, thanks very much guys. :)

Support Requests / PHP errors appearing out of nowhere?
October 22, 2005, 03:26:19 AM
I have errors appearing all over my site. I've not made any changes to my coding, they've been untouched for a couple of months and as of today, these errors appear:

Notice: Undefined variable: fieldname in /home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/site.php on line 447
Notice: Undefined variable: fieldemail in /home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/site.php on line 450
Notice: Undefined variable: fieldmessage in /home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/site.php on line 455
Notice: Undefined variable: step in /home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/site.php on line 471

Does anyone know why they've suddenly appeared? Or is it something to do with the servers at the moment?
