Title: Migrated to plesk
Post by: markjay on January 03, 2008, 03:33:46 AM
This topic will bring up all users that have been migrated over plesk.

My question is, now that I have been migrated over plesk.
How can I upload my files over plesk using FTP?
Do we still have access of mysql5.freepgs.com over plesk, any phpmyadmin at plesk of mysql5.freepgs.com?
Will my current URL be carried over to my plesk account?

I've used plesk before, but I forgot completely.

How do we configure our domain? And if we want to use a subdomain provided by you guys, how do we do that with this? What is the URL I can use to access my website? What is your favorite cheese?

Sorry for so many questions.

You can get most of your questions answered via the Plesk Documentation:
http://www.swsoft.com/en/products/plesk/docs/

FTP details should be ftp.yourdomain.com, with the user/password you use on freepgs (unless you changed it on Plesk).

From what I understand, the MySQL 5 server is staying after FreePgs main goes down, and localhost will be gone, however, I would recommend you move your databases to Plesk to manange them. There is not currently a PMA for MySQL5 on the Plesk server, you can continue using the one on the main freepgs server.

Your url on plesk will be either your domain, or username.plesk.lvcs.net, from what I've seen, and this should be included only if you don't have ANY domains of your own.(Wow, three questions answered at once!)

Configuring your domain: Could you please be more specific?

Any other questions feel free to ask.

FTP Information:
Host/IP/URL: plesk.lvcs.net    (unless you have your own domain)
Username: your_username
Password: your_password
Port: 21

Upload your files into the httpdocs folder.

I am receiving 530 Login incorrect via my FTP client.

Using the details:
FTP Information:
Host/IP/URL: plesk.lvcs.net    (unless you have your own domain)
Username: my_username
Password: my_password
Port: 21

And I still cannot see any URL for my plesk account.

Be sure you have Added a Domain. Your domain should display when you click the "Home" link on the left menu. After that, click your domain name.

Then click the "Setup" button.

If I do not have any domain, how can I use my FreePgs URL?

QuoteAn account has been created for you on the Plesk system.

To manage your account, please login via https://plesk.lvcs.net:8443/

Each domain will be setup with its own FTP account.  If you wish to have multiple domains pointing to the same content, you can add them as aliases to a single domain.

Please upload your files using "plesk.lvcs.net" as the FTP Server Name.  Be sure to upload your files into the "httpdocs" directory.

Once your domains have been created, you will need to update the nameservers at your domain registrar.

The new nameservers are:
PLSK1.LVCS.NET
PLSK2.LVCS.NET

If you are pointing your domain to our IP address (via DNS records), you will need to update the DNS record to point to 68.178.206.47

If you are using a domain name that ends with "freepgs.com", that domain will not point to the Plesk server automatically.  To have these domains pointed, please fill out the contact form, and we can make the necessary DNS changes.  You can also add the domain as username.plesk.freepgs.com if you wish to have a domain that will work immediately.

If you have your own domain and are pointed to our nameservers, you will now have the ability to add/remove your own email accounts in Plesk.  If you are using a third party email server solution, you will have the ability to modify DNS records via the Plesk panel as well.

Thank you,
FreePgs.com "Admin"

This should be the reply you got via email when the account was created. The instructions on adding a domain have been bolded.

This is the reply of the plesk:
QuoteA new client account has been created in Plesk.
Client's contact name: username
Client's login: username
Client's password: password
Plesk entry point: https://plesk.lvcs.net:8443

Thank you,
LVCS.NET Plesk Automation
I still want to use my FreePgs URL, but i'll wait for the admin's response about this matter.

Here's another silly question.  I set up my domain as pixie.freepgs.com (the same as before).  But when I type the address in my url, I think my old site comes up because I modified my index page.  What can I do now?

Migrated yesterday without a hitch-and setting up everything on plesk now.

Never had a reason to post before, mainly because Freepgs always worked better than I expected.  It's sad to see it go, but understandable.  Thanks to everyone of the freepgs staff, the service was awesome, and it will be missed. :-[   :)

The Plesk server does not have the mail function enabled by default. You can request it through the Help Desk in Plesk.
As to answer your second question,
Quote from: Plesk Knowledge Base link=http://kb.swsoft.com/en/776
Is there a way to have multiple FTP logins per domain?

RESOLUTION
Current Plesk version supports only one FTP user per domain. Also, web users are able to access their home directories via FTP and anonymous FTP access can be configured.

Multiple FTP users support will be added in Plesk 9. This time you can add additional FTP users only manually as described in the 415 article.
So, there is no support with it yet. I don't know if the admin will edit in a second FTP account manually, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I think there is a problem with plesk regarding in creating webuser. When creating webuser it already makes a page directing to #site-removed#, but sadly to say there is no index page existing for the #site-removed# images.

A webuser account is created and files uploaded to that account are located in a yourdomain.com/~user, according to the Plesk manual. Are you using that directory to try and access files?

I don't have admin rights on the Plesk server to look into this for you, so I've forwarded your request to the admin, including the link. Hopefully, he can solve your problem.

These files are located in the /web_users/ folder within your account.

I have renamed the index.html file to index2.html so this page will not display.

I tested adding a webuser to another account, and no files were there (an empty directory was created).

If other users are seeing the same page, please let me know.  (I was unable to reproduce this.  The offending html files were found inside the users directory)

A quick grep of the file system only shows one instance of this on the system.  (That instance is in your account).

[root@plesk3 vhosts]# grep -l "zo0m.biz" ./*/web_users/*/*
./breakdance.freepgs.com/web_users/sundel/index2.html
[root@plesk3 vhosts]#

These files appear to be uploaded into your account.  (Be sure to check the source files if you did upload these to your account.  There are quite a few files in this directory.)

These files should also appear when logging in with the Username/Password setup with the webuser.  (They will not appear under your main account unless you have access to the web_users folder mentioned above)

Thank you,
FreePgs.com Admin

As far as I know, you cannot purchase account upgrades from this point on. Sorry.
