Title: PHP4 ?
Post by: small on November 26, 2005, 07:25:22 AM
PHP change to 5series?
Can't PHP4 be used?
There are quite a many modules which do not move although XOOPS is built.

Since it was managing in the direction of PLESK, I'm not noticed.

Thank you.

We are running PHP5 on the FreePgs system.
The Plesk server still runs PHP4 for compatibility reasons

If your script/module does not work with PHP5 and you have a Gold or higher account, we can compile a PHP4 executable for you to use (the scripts will then run via CGI with some modifications to the Options panel)

You may want to check with the author of each module/script to see if an updated version is available that supports PHP5

We cannot simply downgrade this machine to PHP4

Why is it PHP5 would be a downgrade from 4?

PHP 4 has obviously less features that 5, so it would be a downgrade...
Anyway PHP 4 is only there as a maintenance release, that is : it is only updated for people who still need to run that version. To my knowledge, the recommended version is 5.

Thanks admin and all.
Since the present PHP5 is recommended to be sure, it is unavoidable.
Change to the system which runs by PHP5 is considered.

Thank you.

I was PlatinumPlan when checking well. :o

Does it run via CGI by option setup?
I'm glad if you teach that what is necessary is just to set up how.

Yes, it should have read "downgrade to PHP4"

And no, we will not be downgrading the system to PHP4
