my site: freepgs.com/tdchalo

All of a sudden my site is not showing up, I am getting the 404 page not found error. I didn't delete any files and I checked my account, all the files are still there. Any help?

that's the same thing happening to me at http://www.freepgs.com/maven/

Try xxx.freepgs.com instead of freepgs.com/xxx

I can't believe there was no warning of this!

Maven

that's not working either

They are changing us over to subdomains, and I think it is going to cause us all a lot of work and money. My advertisers and affiliiate network accounts will most likely reject the new URL. Freepgs.com changed my url http://freepgs.com/ledbetter/ to http://ledbetter.freepgs.com

QuoteMy advertisers and affiliate accounts (to mention a few) expect exact URLs. This change to a subdomain means I have to change my URL(s) in all those advertising accounts or I will not get credit for clicks etc.

This change to subdomains looks like it will cost me a lot of work (and reduce my "hourly wage" to pennies due to the fact that I will have to spend hours fixing the situation).

I would prefer that my URL remain http://www.freepgs.com/ledbetter/

They could of at least given a warning that they were going to do this.

I had no problems with the freepgs url and in fact I liked it better, I had to go through all the crap of changing urls within the database, change urls elsewhere and notify friends.

I would prefer to have the url stay as it was rather than change to a sub domain.

I think you have to use the contact form and request a new subdomain.

There is a simple solution... buy a domain.. I mean they're only $5 a year... and you really can't make a popular website without a domain.

Users who have a domain are not affected by the change. And overall its much better for you and your website and your visitors to have a simple domain name for your site.

As much as I agree with you that freepgs should have
1) Given warning
2) Allow both subdomains and the folder to work for the first couple of weeks atleast as a change-over period so you have time to update all your links etc.

I still think that regardless of your age, or financial status, $5 a year (or less than 42 cents a month, or just over 1 cent a day) is nothing to pay for such a necesity. Without a domain, your website appears unporfessional, visitors can't remember your address easily, visitors decide not to click a link because you are using a free subdomain service instead of a real domain. I hope you realize a couple of cents or less a day, is certainly worth it for such a valuable thing.

I myself just purchased another domain today.

Be sure to use the contact form and no doubt it will take time for them to fix it up.

I do wish they would have emailed everyone.

QuoteFreePgs URLs are no longer accessible
Please associate a domain to your account to access your files.
If you do not have a domain name, please use the Contact Form
and a subdomain name will be provided to you.
Be sure to login before sending the message.
Straight from the 404 page you all looked at.

I have a few domains, but I would not point any of them at my freepgs.com account.  So far, Freepgs.com has lost credibility and is proving itself less reliable and less ethical than many of the better FREE hosting providers.
