Please send a message to plesk at lvcs dot net with your account username so we can check this out.

You should be able to modify the file via FTP, .htaccess only stops apache from displaying the page.

Please be sure you have changed your database, FTP, and control panel password.

Be sure ALL scripts are up to date.  This includes forum, CMS, etc.  If you are not using a script, please remove it.

Be sure all scripts are setup correctly with proper permissions, no 777 permissions, etc.

Be sure you are running the latest version of PHP that your script can support, i.e. 5.4 or 5.5

I reverted the file back to the original version once I was able to connect again. I think I won't try editing it again unless I really know what I am doing. Whatever was going on seems to have stopped this morning, but in any case I will send my info in case there's anything that needs to be looked into.

I've been trying to keep up on all this so as not to cause problems on my end, so as far as I know all my scripts should already be up to date, using the latest version of php and such. I've changed all the relevant passwords again to be safe.

Tonight while checking statistics, I noticed that one user had an unusually high volume of bandwidth on one of my sites (on the East server). After looking into the logs, I found out that they were repeatedly loading the same page over and over again. After discovering this, I made attempts to ban their IP. However, I've never had this problem, and never had to do this before, and I suspect I may have edited the htaccess file for that directory incorrectly.

In any case, I'm not able to access the server to edit the file again, and it seems to be down or inaccessible, so I don't know what to do.

The IP of the suspected attacker is 36.74.182.195.

The problem user has been identified and suspended.  Their WP site was likely not kept up to date, files were injected to send spam messages.

The mail queue has been cleared and we have requested de-listing.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I will see if we can get off of their list. (Hard to tell if it is an internal or external list with them.)

NS1/NS2.LAX.LVCS.NET Glue Records have been updated to point to LAX2.
Please login to LAX2.LVCS.NET to make any changes to your site if you are on LAX.

If everything works out properly, we will be removing LAX from service and repointing the LAX domain to LAX2 IP.
To avoid an SSL Certificate error, please use "lax2.lvcs.net" when communicating with the server via SMTP/POP3/IMAP or when logging into Plesk

https://lax2.lvcs.net:8443/ is the new entry point.

If you are on this server and you are not using our DNS, please be sure to update the IP Address for your site to 23.238.136.149

We are currently in the process of migrating all sites from LAX to LAX2.

https://lax2.lvcs.net:8443/ will be the new entry point for these customers.

Once migrated and settings are verified to have copied over, we will repoint LAX nameservers to the LAX2 addresses.

This new server allows you to choose PHP 5.6 similar to our NYC (cPanel) offering.

If this works, we may begin migration to Plesk 12.x in our first phase.  If there are problems, we will being our migration to cPanel services and using WHMCS for billing purposes since cPanel doesn't allow us to put an expiration date on a service/account.

The provider is reprovisioning the new LAX2 replacement Plesk server to get the disk container setup properly.  We will need to reinstall the updates and Plesk and license once they have done that.  I hope to have time tomorrow.

We do have a cPanel server running in the same region (but different provider).  If you would like to migrate, we should be able to migrate everything over (with some exceptions).
